A museum experience for all
Between art technology and imagination
“Imaginaria” is the innovative art exhibition of works by NuvolaProject (Gaia Riposati and Massimo Di Leo), at Palazzo Merulana in Rome. Through augmented reality, visitors discover digital performance works that interact with Italian 20th century masterpieces in a poetic and symbolic narrative.
To visit “Imaginaria” is to embark on a personal journey, an opportunity to enter into a deeper relationship with art, where technology and tradition meet to create an enriching and stimulating museum experience.
Art in Augmented Reality
Using a dedicated app, artworks come to life. By framing the paintings with a smartphone, visitors can see them come to life in dialogue with NuvolaProject‘s digital works. These creations, the result of an in-depth artistic study, offer an engaging and poetic narrative, transforming the visit into an immersive experience in the heart of art from the first half of the Italian 20th century.
A dialogue with masterpieces of the Italian 20th century
“Imaginaria” puts NuvolaProject’s digital works in dialogue with masterpieces by Italian artists of the first half of the 20th century, featured in the Elena and Claudio Cerasi collection at Palazzo Merulana:
Giacomo Balla
Felice Casorati
Antonio Donghi
Antonietta Raphael
Franco Gentilini
Giuseppe Capogrossi
An inclusive and accessible exhibition
The exhibition is designed to be accessible to everyone. Each artwork is accompanied by an actress performing in Italian Sign Language, allowing deaf people to fully experience the poetry of the works, and offering all visitors an enriching and inclusive cultural experience. In collaboration with ENS (Ente Nazionale dei Sordi), particularly with the team from the Provincial Section of Rome, an adaptation has been developed to ensure effective, engaging, and fascinating accessibility in LIS (Italian Sign Language) and IS (International Signs).

It was valuable teamwork, in the translation, interpretation and adaptation of the text. […]
[…] Being part of the working group of the Imaginaria project was an extremely enriching experience.
Imaginaria is an innovative project on several fronts. […]
Meta-imaginaria represents a natural evolution of the path started with imaginaria, thanks to the adoption of new tools such as an unprecedented AI mode and an endowment of functionalities developed in collaboration with the UICI (Italian Union of the Blind and Impaired) to expand the target to which this new mode of cultural enjoyment is aimed. Meta-imaginary was created as part of the extended partnership “CHANGES – Cultural Heritage Active Innovation for Sustainable Society”, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU Spoke 9 CREST.
